Which is More Important Diet or Exercise For Weight Management?

Philip Stanforth, a professor of exercise science at the University of Texas and the executive director of the Fitness Institute of Texas, said: "Studies tend to show that in terms of weigh loss, diet plays a much bigger role than exercise"

Diet is playing a bigger role because if you think you exercise for only one hour out of your day, then the rest of day is probably devoted for your eating which is more than one an hour. Diet plays a role alongside leading a balanced lifestyle that include good nutrition, stress management and healthy lifestyle habits such a getting adequate sleep.

Exercise is great for providing feel good endorphins, building growth hormones, and of course burning up calories, but what really matter is how effective your diet is in order to get the most benefits of your exercise. Take for example, in case for losing weight exercise alone can not drive a significant weight loss. It is because the majority of us unknowingly compensate for the calories that we burn by being more physically active. Moreover, exercise tends to increase your appetite by trigger subconscious eating habits, so managing your diet effectively by increasing the calories intake as increasing the frequency or intensity of the workout as well as regulating the snacks throughout the course of an average day. Another reason for diet is being important than exercise that it is the fuel source drives exercise. Without the right calories intake, energy, and nutrients in your body, it is impossible to exercise effectively.
