Things You Need to know Before Going on Gluten-free Diet


The trend of buying, eating, and cooking gluten-free diet has increased recently even though most of time there is no need to truly avoid gluten food. Originally, this diet is developed for people with Celiac Disease, whose digestive system does not tolerate gluten well. Despite the lack of scientific clarity, gluten-free food appears to get a popular reputation between consumers. Here are some few things to consider before going on this diet:

If Suspect having gluten sensitivity, talk to a doctor !

About 1 in 100 people have Celiac Disease. It is most of the time inherited autoimmune disease. So before going into such a special diet, you need to nail down that diagnosis. It is important to mention to your doctor if you experiencing lost in weight, deficiency in iron, or have a family history of celiac disease.

Going on gluten-free diet does not mean avoid all grains

Just because it’s a grain doesn’t mean it has gluten. You’ve got lots of options, including amaranth, millet, buckwheat and quinoa.

You won't necessarily lose weight

It depend on how you go gluten-free diet. Losing weight is relatively depend on ditching refined carbs like bagels, pasta and crackers in favor of whole grains. if you replace gluten-containing products with their gluten-free counterparts, you’re likely to ingest more sugar and fat.

Gluten is often hidden in other places !

Even with going on gluten-free diet for whatever reason it has been advertised for, you still get from other nutrients such salad dressings, or even a veggie burger.

Gluten-free diet may improve your skin condition

Although some people with celiac disease report their skin condition improved when they ditch gluten, research has not been done yet to prove the improvement of skin condition is related specifically to gluten-free diet. There is a possibility due to the avoid of processed food.
