Snacking When Being A Diabetic Person


A healthy meal plan for people with diabetes is generally the same as a healthy diet for anyone- low in saturated and trans fats, moderate in salt and sugar, with meals based on lean protein, non- starchy vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and fruits.

When it comes to snacking, nutritious snacks can help curb hunger while adding a nutritious energy boost to your day. Regards how many snacks your meal plan includes, portion sizes are the keys to efficient management of diabetes.

Snacking Ideas about 30 grams of carbohydrates (good to eat before exercise):

  • 1/2 peanut butter sandwich (1 slice whole wheat bread+ 1 Tsp peanut butter)+ 1 cup milk

  • 6 oz light yogurt+ 3/4 cup berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, or a combination of these)

  • 1 English muffin+ 1 tsp low-fat tub margarine

  • 3/4 cup whole grain, ready-to-eat cereal+ 1/2 cup low-fat milk

  • 1 medium banana+ 1 Tsp peanut butter
