What are Prebiotics and Probiotics and what they do?

Prebiotics are natural, non-digetible food components linked to promote the growth of helpful bacteria in the gut. They improve gastrointestinal health and enhance calcium absorption as well. On the other hand, Probiotics are the good bacteria or live cultures found in the gut. These cultures help change and repopulate intestinal bacteria to balance gut flora. Probiotics include fructooligosaccharides such as inulin and galactooligosaccharides. Recommended food include bananas, onions, garlic, leeks, asparagus, soybeans, and whole-wheat foods. Probiotics include fermented dairy foods such yogurt, kefir products and aged cheeses.
