Healthiest Cooking Oils


Trying to find the healthiest cooking oil can be a daunting task. However the role of thump is all of monounsaturated fats are not suitable for cooking due to its low smoking point, and saturated fats are better. Coconut oil is the most suitable oil for cooking because its structure does not change under the high temperature. Here are some cooking oils/ fats used daily life, their smoke points, and their ration of Omega-6: Omega-3 ratios:

Extra virgin olive oil, 160 C, 73% monounsaturated, high in Omega 9

Butter, 177 C, 9:1, mostly saturated and monounsaturated

Coconut Oil, 177 C, 86% healthy saturated, auric acid

Lard, 182 C, mostly unhealthy saturated

Canola oil, 200 C, 2:1, 62% monounsaturated, 32% polyunsaturated

Sesame oil, 210 C, 42:1

Almond oil, 216 C, Omega-6 only

Sunflower oil, 227 C, 40:1
