Bison (Buffalo), a Healthier Red Meat


Since a diet low in saturated fat could lower the risk of heart disease, nutrient rich bison has gained a great deal of acceptance. A 3 oz grass-fed cooked bison burger has 152 calories, 7 gram of total fat and 3 gram of saturated fat. it is low in cholesterol, about 60 milligram, and an excellent source of vitamin B12 as well as iron.

Because the meat is low in fat, it is easily overcooked, so braising or stewing work best with large, less tender cuts.

Use or freeze ground raw bison within 2 days, or 3 to 5 days fro large cuts. uncooked ground bison can be frozen up to 4 months and large cuts up to 9 months.
