Here is a quick approach to how you distinguish and pick up the most suitable for you
First look for the sign of fork and cups
All food graded plastic container must have a mark of fork and cup on them. Industries are required to show this sign clearly on their products
Buy the containers that you need
Other signs you need to watch out include,
ice mark: suitable for freezing
Microwave mark: suitable for heating in microwave
Dishwasher mark: dishwasher safe

There are in general seven plastic types are containers made of. They are increasing in density as the numbers get higher

Why you need to avoid recycling these numbers ?
These types of plastic are proved to leak into foods overtime as they activate cancerous cells in our bodies over time. They are also sensitive to heat and high temperature.

Companies and industries are required to use (BPA free) plastic. The FDA banded the use of BPA due to the concern that the plastic may leak into food causing changes in the brain development, reproductive system, and early puberty.
